大腸がんは、上行結腸、横行結腸、下行結腸、S状結腸、直腸に発生するがんですが、このうち、S状結腸がん、直腸がんが8割を占めます。
局所の治療とともに、肝転移・肺転移に対する警戒や治療が必要となります。

大腸がん治療では、外科手術等の病巣切除が基本となります。進行・再発例では外科手術に加え、化学療法などの検討が重要です。
